Project Contributors

"A Kid's Guide to Radiation Therapy," would not have been possible without the care and dedication of the staff at Miller Children's and Women's Hospital.  Above all, I am grateful to my mentor, Child Life Director, Rita Goshert, who guided me every step of the way and believed in this project from the start.  In the early stages of my book, I met Certified Child Life Specialists, Adriann Williams and Stacy Martinez, who educated me on the topic of radiation therapy and gave me a tour of Long Beach Memorial Hospital's Radiation Department.  While planning, proofreading, and revising my book, I was grateful for the advice of Certified Child Life Specialists, Allison Singhi, and Lourdes Marquez. Illustrations were a major aspect of my project.  My primary illustrator, Nala Haley, volunteered hours of her time to produce comforting artwork.  In addition, a pediatric radiation patient graciously shared her experience through her art pictured to the left.  I would also like to give a special thanks to my former High School Spanish teacher, Ms. Sanchez, for proofreading my Spanish translations.  My printed books were graciously donated by DiggyPOD printing in Tecumseh, Michigan, and Springing in Long Beach, California.  Their donations provided books to Miller Children's Hospital, the Long Beach Unified School District, and cancer organizations.  Most importantly, I thank my father and mother for dedicating their time, providing me with advice, and being an inspiration for my work.
